ODF SOLUTIONS
An ODF (Optical Distribution Frame) forms a system for termination of fibres and for protection and administration of cables and optical patch cords, it is a vital part of a fibreoptic network. Foss offers several different panel solutions, designed to comply with the diverse needs of todays fibre installers.
- A system for fastening, guiding and storing of excess incoming cables.
- Panel for termination, protection and administration of fibres and connectors.
- A system for guiding, protection and storing of excess optical patch cords.
Panel for terminating fibre
The FP PRO-series includes several panels for termination of optical fibre. A good selection of accessories facilitates fast and safe administration of the fibres. Pre-terminated solutions are often used in telematic rooms but also increasingly for office cabling.
- Panel FP60 PRO – 1U high
- Panel FP70 PRO – 1.5U high
- Panel FP80 PRO – 2U high
- Panel FPM PRO – 3U high, modular panel
The 1U patch panel is targeting the high density datacom networks and offers up to 144 LC terminations. The 1.5U and 2U panels are designed for the telecom networks and include a drawer for easy access to the splicing and fibre storage area. Panel FPM PRO is a modular system with pluggable modules that offers simple expansion as traffic increases.
FPX panel series
FPX Patch panels are similar to the FP PRO series, but with longer body, improved rodent resistant entries, screwed adapters and bigger cassette for splice protection. These panels exists in 1U or 2U sizes and are sold as a splice ready version (with adapters, pigtails, cassettes for splicing) or in pre-terminated version (with cable).
Accessories
The accessories for the FP PRO-series shall secure the installation and give good fibre and cable administration. Separate installation sets are used to ensures fast and secure installation.
Cable guides in 2 sizes guides the patch cords to the side of the rack. A storage unit may be used for horizontal storage of excess cords when vertical storage is not available.
A number of acrylic covers may be used to prevent accidental damage to the connectors. Label plates in different sizes may be used both as protection and labelling.
Fiber optic rack
The multi-purpose rack allows for effective installation and management of cables, pigtails and patch cords. It can be set up as side by side sections or optionally back to back. Both wall-mounted and stand-alone versions are available. Integrated vertical ducts simplify routing and storage of patch cords.
It is produced in unpainted aluminium and has 19” profiles that allows continuous height adjustment of nut and screw when installing equipment. The rack is standard delivered as 1 to 6 sections. The rack may be used as a pure fibre rack or as a combined fibre- and electronics rack. The latter is common within fibre to the home (FTTH). The equipment is mounted using spring-nuts and screws in slide rails. In this way the distance between the equipment are easily adjustable.
Incoming cable
The incoming cable will normally enter in the back of the rack. Possibilities for storing some excess cable. May use separate raceway/guide if there is room for it. Remove cable jacket, strength member and any grease before going into the panels. 16 mm corrugated-tubes are often used to guide the fibre tubes to the panel. The FOSS cable distributor may be used when using outdoor cable.
