It Always Works!
A Story of Reliability and Expertise

When Technical Director Bård Egil Torgersen at TV 2 urgently needed special connectors, Foss Fiber Optics sprang into action. Within just five days, the issue was resolved.

During the summer of 2024, as TV 2 transitioned the "Good Morning Norway" studio from Aker Brygge in Oslo to Lysaker in Bærum, they realized they were lacking robust ProBeam lens connectors. Torgersen, familiar with Foss from years of collaboration, immediately reached out.

"They're not the cheapest, but their quality and promptness are worth every penny. When we needed connectors, I had no doubt about who to contact," Torgersen remarked.

Product Manager Jens Klepp at Foss recalls the urgency. "We pride ourselves on quick response times. TV 2's order came in on Thursday, August 8, and by Tuesday, August 13, the connectors were delivered."

Klepp is proud of their Norway-based manufacturing, which offers a time advantage over competitors sourcing from abroad. "We save significant time by producing locally," he noted.

Built for Tough Conditions
The ProBeam connectors are known for their robustness and resistance to dust and dirt, which can otherwise disrupt data signals. The system includes a field cable with easy-to-use plugs.

"ProBeam excels in challenging environments. We supply it to the defense, ships and various offshore installations and industrial land-based solutions," Klepp explained.

For TV 2, ProBeam is integral to their "flight" units—mobile equipment setups essential for outdoor broadcasting. "The flight accompanies us on outdoor reports for 'Good Morning Norway,' rain or shine. It must be ready to connect for seamless signal transmission," Torgersen said.

These signals involve substantial data, with 1- and 10-gigabit connections. "We rely heavily on ProBeam for sports events, both summer and winter. It's user-friendly and reliable, unlike previous solutions that often failed due to dirt," Torgersen continued.

When asked about cleaning ProBeam connectors, Foss's simple advice was: "Use dish soap and rinse under the tap." Torgersen laughed, "It actually works!"

A Testament to Reliability
Torgersen describes TV 2 as dynamic and fast-paced. "We need flexibility and efficiency from our partners. Alternatives to ProBeam exist, but none match its quality. Foss's expertise and quick delivery times are unmatched," he concluded.

This collaboration highlights the importance of reliable partnerships and quality products in the fast-moving world of broadcast media.
